I had to laugh when I saw this opener I shot for Carquinez Magazine’s garden section. Carquinez Magazine is new and it’s smart and funny; the gardening section is full of tips; humorous and helpful. The story that I photographed is about Rachel and Tom Ferguson. I met them a few years ago when they went an entire year without shopping at a big box grocery store, surviving only on their own homegrown food supplemented by the local farmers market. Now they have started selling their own vegetable starts and native plants grown specifically for the microclimate of Vallejo. They’ve become very popular. A couple of weeks ago I spent a day working with Irene Audet, owner of NinaLereau.com photographing her beautiful aprons. I never knew there was such a thing as luxury aprons but this is it: hand-crafted, triple layered, organic, and made in the USA. Perfect for the serious chef (home or restaurant) and just in time for Christmas. NinaLereau.com
